Arttimez, November 2024 : Six decades ago, famous Telugu lyricist ‘Manasu Kavi’ Atreya wrote about the beauty and Artistry of Indian sculpture in a song saying ‘Sculptures are carved on rocks.. Our artists have brought beauty to creation..’ We all have seen the beauty of Ajanta sculptures in Maharashtra. Here, Kalakshetra alumni, world record holder, art curator Ajanta Das brings the uniqueness of Indian sculpture into the hearts of Dubai art lovers.
Ajanta from Assam participated in an international art camp held at the International Studio of Art and Galleries in Dubai from October 27 to November 2 and taught sculpture to aspiring artists. Artists from different countries participated in this camp. Ajantadas, Sita Menon, Anita Balaji, Catherine Anand, Anubafna, Ruchika Ram Singhani from India were present. AI Safa Park Complex in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the venue for this camp.
An inspiring artistic passion
Ajanta’s ‘sculpture’ art has particularly impressed the art lovers there. She was felicitated by the organizers of the International Studio of Art and Galleries in recognition of her outstanding contribution in developing artistic talent as a sculptor. “The workshop was amazing with the immense sculptural skill and guidance of Ajanta Das. As an alumnus of Kalakshetra, a world record holder, her passion for the arts inspired all involved. We sincerely thank her for sharing her artistic knowledge and creativity with the people of Dubai. Her journey in the world of sculpture is inspiring,” praised the organizers.

Talking about her experience at the International Studio of Art and Galleries art camp, Ajanta Das told ‘ArtTimez’, “Dubai is a great place for art and artists. The art lovers there welcomed me very warmly. The respect they give artists is unbelievable. I enjoyed training them in the art of sculpture. The pottery and sculpture of Dubai artists are very creative and attractive”
